Happy New Year to all of my friends and family! The new year is the perfect time to reflect on the past years accomplishments and… and…
What? What’s that you say? The new year began almost three weeks ago now?
Crap.
Like many of you, I made my share of resolutions at the beginning of the year. Inspired by the prolific output of a couple of my friends, I planned to post a new “thought of the day” every day. I still want to run a marathon and, again, inspired by a friend who has run every day for the past two years, I was going to lace up the sneakers and hit the pavement daily.
Yeah.
The daily running resolution last for three days. I also ran yesterday. So, let’s see, I’m 4-for-17 so far on that one. And the daily writing? Well, this is my first post of the year, so…
The easiest thing for me to do would be to give up. There are video games to be played, after all, and my Netflix queue isn’t going to watch itself. And sleep. Yeah, I could do with more of that too.
Or…
…I could go ahead and write something today. I could go ahead and post it, even though my website isn’t really finished yet.
I could go for a run too. Maybe I can’t quite run a marathon yet. But I could go for a run around the block. Heck, I could probably go for a couple, even.
So, yeah. Happy New Year! Because even though it’s no longer January 1, that doesn’t mean I can’t pretend like it is.
